2011 A&G Ryan Howard auto does not exist!

2011 Allen & Ginter Ryan Howard auto

2011 Allen & Ginter Mythical Ryan Howard auto

I know that Topps has done this sort of thing before, but it never fails to infuriate me.  They have been advertising the Ryan Howard auto since the day the 2011 Allen & Ginter sell sheet went live – it is the fourth baseball auto listed #AGA-RHO Ryan Howard

The have the been using the image of this card on both their retail and hobby packaging all along… it is listed in the checklist. Read the rest of this entry

2011 Topps Monopoly Babe Ruth Relic

Now Topps is just being cruel.  With their new 2011 Topps Monopoly cards they are really just trying to rub it into Upper Deck and Pannini’s faces.  Monopoly?  Are you kidding me?

Many of you have probably already seen the 2011 Topps Monopoly preview images on the Mojo Beard website.  The images and card design have truly impressed most collectors and hobby enthusiasts.  As a matter of fact, other than a handful of pathetic whiners on a few forums, the response has been amazing. Topps Sparkle Bounty Cards 2011 Baseball Series 2

Topps Sparkle Bounty Cards

The new 2011 Topps Double Sparkle Bounty cards are already sparking controversy and I have not even seen one pulled yet.  I checked the eBay listings and nothing, nada, zip, zilch.  I am guessing these cards are REALLY rare.

Personally, if these cards have the regular backs and not some “contest” back, then I think they are fine.  I enjoy the gimmick parallels that Topps puts out each year.  (I realize I am probably in the minority on this front though.)

2010 Bowman Platinum Baseball Card Case Break

Bowman Platinum Baseball Case

So, we did another baseball case break the other day.  A 12 box case of 2010 Bowman Platinum with an extra pack of 2011 Topps Tribute after each 6 box mini case. Had 30 teams in each mini case with the USA hits being randomed at the end.

The Bowman Platinum really was a fun case to break.  It was relatively cheap too.  There were 60 spots and they all cost less than $25 each.  The best pull was a Stephen Strasburg green refractor auto, but there were many other great pulls.  The hits:

2010 Topps Chrome Baseball Card Case Break

2010 Topps Chrome Baseball and 1 Pack Sterling

I have my eye on doing a 2011 Topps Lineage case break on Blowoutcards.com, but I had no reputation for case breaks yet.  So I decided to create a cheap, fun break that would garner a lot of interest for only a little money.

I ended up with a 2010 Topps Chrome baseball case and 1 pack of 2010 Bowman Sterling.  I only allowed 30 teams to join with all USA stuff to be randomed amongst all 30 teams at the end.  It was actually a lot of fun! Read the rest of this entry

Bowman Michael Pineda Autographs & Bryce Harper Chome Rookies

2011 Bowman Retail Bryce Harper Chrome

2011 Bowman Retail

eBay seller sportscardfanatic has just completed a 3 case 2011 Bowman retail break.  He ordered: 1 case of 2011 Bowman retail boxes, 1 case of 2011 Bowman value packs (rack packs), and 1 case of 2011 Bowman blasters.

As you probably know, the 2011 Bowman hobby boxes will not be available until later this week.  That means that everyone who ordered retail (or who are lucky enough to find them at a retail location) are making a killing with their online sales.

The first 2011 Bowman chrome Bryce Harper sold for $135.00 on eBay. Read the rest of this entry

2011 Topps Gypsy Queen Box Break

Box Break: 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen

I busted a box of 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen – cost me $107 at the lcs.  The video is below.  I jump straight to the main hits so that you do not have to watch a 30 minute break.

The best hit of the box was a Miguel Cabrera jersey auto numbered 02/25:

2011 Topps Tribute Group Case Break

2011 Tribute Group Case Break Results

2011 Topps Tribute Nolan Ryan Autograph Auto

2011 Topps Tribute Nolan Ryan Autograph

I have written about the 2011 Topps Tribute Albert Pujols Rookie buyback autograph already.  I was so interested in the lottery pull, that I was actually thinking about buying a case to rip myself.

Well, instead I joined a group break on Blowout Cards forums.  I had the Cardinals, Rays, Astros, and the (coff coff) Diamondbacks.

Of course the Cardinals included the lottery pull (Pujols buyback), but the team also had various autograph and relic cards of Albert Pujols, Stan Musial, Ozzie Smith, Johnny Mize, Bob Gibson, and Lou Brock.  Other than the Yankees and maybe the Dodgers, this is the best team to have in the break.

The Rays only had two players in the entire set: Evan Longoria and Jeremy Hellickson.  The Rays are PC though, so that is definitely a good team to have.

The Astros only has one good possibility: a Nolan Ryan autograph or relic.

The Diamondbacks… well, they had zip, zilch, nada.  Did I pay money for this team?  Yes.  Yes, I did and thank you very much for pointing that out for me.  (Jerk.)  I guess the question here is a simple one:  why?  Why the hell did you buy a team in a break that has NO hits?  Well, let’s just say that you should never listen to a friend talk about the amazing Randy Johnson card from Tribute without actually verifying that said card truly exists.  Learned THAT the hard way.
