Topps 2011 Target Value Packs

Topps 2011 Target Value Packs

I thought that it was only fair to write a new post mentioning that Topps has fixed this problem recently.  The Diamond Giveaway code cards inserted in the 2011 Topps Value Boxes exclusively at Target work now. Not just the new cards either – all the old cards that were previously not working are now valid.

Topps has said previously that the codes did not work because they had printed “duplicate” codes.  This seemed pretty fishy to me because Topps has a habit of lying through there teeth…  So with the codes now working, how does that explain all these duplicate cards?  I do not think there were ever any duplicates, if so some of the codes would have worked, but none ever did.  I think Topps released the product without putting the new codes into their system.

Well, bottomline is that the codes now work.

Topps plays a cruel April Fools Day prank on its customers nationwide by offering 2 free Diamond Giveaway code cards in its $14.99 Value Pack at Target stores.  The catch: the codes do not work!

As you know, the Diamond Giveaway promotion inserts code cards in 2011 Topps baseball cards.  Right now they are in Series 1 – with Series 2 and the Update Series expected later this year.  The hot hits include vintage Topps cards and actual diamond embedded 1/1 versions of the 330 base card set.  Other cool hits include die-cut cards and additional “dig” prizes like diamond parallel sets and packs of vintage cards.

However, that is predicated on the idea the codes actually work.  These codes do not.

When you enter the codes from these cards online, you get the dreaded “Invalid Code” message:

This is not an isolated incident. Message boards online are talking about this occurring everywhere: BEWARE: Invalid codes in new Target 14.99 value boxes. Read the rest of this entry
