Cheap Fun Breaks

Hey all

Pretty simple, below is the draft list.

Please use the comments to draft.  Please do not use the comments on here for b/s/t – use BO messaging and the original thread for that, ok?

Draft clock STARTS at noon est Sunday.  We need to finish by Wednesday morning.

Draft Rules:

Because there are 253 spots, we need to implement a few rules to move the draft along.

1. I will provide a spreadsheet with every pick on it. I strongly encourage you to provide a list and allow me to pick for you. By using this spreadsheet for your list, I can create a database and make quick work of the auto picks. (You must use the spreadsheet – if you do not have excel, open office works too and that is free.)

2. The draft clock will run from noon to midnight eastern (9am to 9pm pacific) every day starting the day after the draft.

3. You get 30 minutes from the time the previous pick was made. If you miss your clock (and have not sent a list), you are on automatic auto-pick until you check-in. We have all been held captive by guys who are AWOL – so this will help with that.

4. If you send a list, I am going to use it. If you are on and want to draft instead of me using your list, just post “Hey I am here to draft – do not use my list.” You need to do this well in advance of your spot or I may not see it. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES will I wait the entire 30 minutes and then use your list. When your spot comes up, I use your list.

5. Common courtesy is extremely important in these drafts – especially this one. PM the next person in line (or ask someone to PM for you if you cannot). Subscribe to the thread and stay updated! If you are nearing your 30 minute deadline and are still picking, just post a comment – “Hey, I am here and picking now.” I promise I am not an ogre trying to auto-pick you Sean Rodriguez when you really wanted Jay Sborz.

6. You CAN trade during your clock – but there is only 30 minutes for you or whoever buys the spot to pick. Their clock does NOT start over after a sale or trade – make sure they know that they are up!

7. DO NOT SELL SPOTS OUTSIDE THE BREAK!

8. Remember, the clock starts after the last pick is made. PM’s are nice, but your clock does not start after a pm. Be sure and track the draft – it is your responsibility.

9. The clock is 30 minutes, but I may not be able to immediately auto-pick every 30 minutes of every day. So please give me a break. Thanks!

10. Have fun! Riversoule recently hit a canary 1/1 and a gold ref with the 254th pick. Anything can happen!

I have always wanted to do some cool vintage pack breaks.  The worry has always been that the packs may be tampered with.  Dave and Adams has some older stuff and so does the Baseball Card Exchange.

I was thinking about a 1975 Topps Mini pack group break.  That would be fun and very inexpensive.  We could also do a pack of 1979 Topps Hockey – the Topps version is relatively inexpensive compared to the OPC.  Then there is the 1987 Fleer Basketball…

There are also a lot of box breaks we could do…  1982 – 1984 are all great years.  I was thinking of a 3 box break of 1983 Topps, Donruss, and Fleer.  We could run it by the pack – so 36 spots of 1 pack from each box at random.  The rookies of Wade Boggs, Tony Gwynn, and Ryne Sandburg plus Ripken’s second year. Biggest changes:  $250 per team, no 2010 Bowman or Topps Chrome, and added 2012 Mystery Gamers case!

This is for the guys in my Insanity and Mega breaks.  This is a big one!  There are 30 spots and approximately 500+ cards on average per spot.

Instead of 1 team for the entire break, you will get a new random for every case!

This break is already submitted to blowout and will be run there.  This is just your chance to sign up early. 

Product is expected to be released on May 9th, but it keeps climbing in price.  I figure we better lock it in now.

To answer a few questions very quickly:

This is a player draft. With each spot, you can pick any card from 2012 Bowman. I will be providing checklists and a default ranked list. Any player that has both an autographed card and a non-autographed card, those are 2 different picks (auto or non-auto – NOT BOTH).

We will random for the draft order 3 times after all payments are in.

This is for the guys in my Insanity breaks.  This is a big one!  There are 30 spots and approximately 500+ cards on average per spot.

I did my best to get this as even as possible, but there are obviously some teams that are better than others (cough, cough, Nationals).

I will run the break here on my site.  There are several benefits:

1. Immediate break approval.
2. No waiting for randoms.
3. Randoms will be done LIVE and recorded – you can watch the random live on ustream.

I am running another super Bowl promo break on Blowout and we got the SPx case on Friday night (the Signature Stars case arrives on Monday).

We really beat the odds in this break with the 3 triple relics, triple patch, and auto relic.  The last break had some bigger hits (Pujols/Jeter/Griffey patch, Griffey 500th 1/1, & Prince Fielder autos); however, I think this was a better break over all.  I think I would rather several great hits over just a few monsters – in a group break at least – because it gets more awesome hits to more people.
