Box Break: 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen

I busted a box of 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen – cost me $107 at the lcs.  The video is below.  I jump straight to the main hits so that you do not have to watch a 30 minute break.

The best hit of the box was a Miguel Cabrera jersey auto numbered 02/25:

Not a bad pull (1:648).

I also pulled a Nelson Cruz auto, Barry Larkin framed relic, and a Kosuke Fukudome jersey (bleh).

I also got two of those ridiculous Gypsy Queen cards: Stefumari and Mirela.  The Mirela is the tarot back parallel (1:96).

In the mini box I got the Frank Thomas variation.  That’s a cool concept, but it is going to make a monster set to build!  The variation is 1 per hobby box.  If there is one of each card… ouch!

I pulled a mini leather variation of Rollie Fingers serially numbered 08/10 that looks interesting too – these will be even harder to find at 1:75.

The main set has SPs of all cards numbered over 300 – and a framed paper parallel set numbered to /999.

The mini cards have black bordered parallels as well as gypsy back parallels – and these are all hindered further by the high number SPs.

Gypsy Queen is definitely a set-builders set similar to Allen & Ginter.

There has been a lot of reports of the hobby boxes not containing the 2 autographs as promised.  Topps has responded to this on their blog: 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen hobby boxes missing autographs.
